Treatment Center
Bluffdale, Utah
Vinyl Murals
A new treatment center is being opened up in the city of Orem. This new treatment center will be in addition to the five centers currently operated by the UDC’s Division of Adult Probation and Parole — four in Salt Lake County and one in Weber County.
The goal of the murals is to create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere while providing visual interest around the facility. Feelings we hope to envoke with our designs are tranquil, aspirational, hopeful, and uplifting.
The Timpanogos Community Treatment Center is nestled in the shadows of the majestic Wasatch Mountain Range, with the namesake mountain peak often seen rising above the clouds. The center has been updated to have bright rooms, clean lines, and organic building materials like accents of wood.
We wanted to compliment this approach, so we focused our designs on using natural elements from the surrounding landscape like mountains, native perennial wildflowers, clouds and more. The use of negative space elements and simple color gradients keep the designs from feeling too busy or over-stimulating, and the color palette keeps to mostly cool tones, and uses a lot of tonal/light shades in order to further the calming feel. We avoided stark black and whites and high contrast color pairings to keep with this theme.
Use of patterning and layered elements brings intrigue and uniqueness to the landscape imagery, as well as aiming to give a nod to the fact that all our life stories are journeys, and that there are many chapters and chances for change.
